Hazel has had a hard life and it shows in her face. She was easy and fun to make for the 2003, Brown Bag Challenge.

This figure was born from a challenge at our local doll clubs, "Page 75, National Geographic Challenge" - hence her name Ng (National Geographic). I have a love/hate relationship with Challenges. I love the fact that my doll making skills are improving with every new creation. I hate the fact that the 'Due Date' is always closer than I think!!!
My page 75 was a gorgeous photo of a Burr about to release its seeds. My challenge was in recreating the burr. The hair represents the burr. Her clothes represent plants, trees and undergrowth of a forest or local field. Her hands represent the branches of life. The feather represents the dusting of pollen. Her head is to the side as she surveys the creation of nature and the part she plays in an ever evolving world.

This figure was born from a challenge at our local doll group. We were each given another member's name and had to make a doll for them. My luck, I was given the name of a Master Doll Artist, who happens to be a personal friend.
My challenge was making a doll that was completely different from her style and as close to her standards as I could possibly make it.
First, came the face which quickly dictated the rest of the doll. This doll represents friendship and all the positive vibes a mutually, great friendship embodies.
I posed the head in repose, so she can contemplate and enjoy the moment.
